Retain More Tooth Structure With Less Invasive Treatments

Minimally invasive dentistry can change the way you feel about visiting the dentist. Instead of removing large parts of a tooth to fix a problem, your dentist uses careful methods that keep as much of your natural tooth as possible. Your smile deserves care that protects what nature gave you.

Here are some of the ways this gentle dentistry can help you:

  • Less drilling and discomfort - Treatments remove only what is needed, so your visits are easier and often shorter.
  • Early cavity care - Small cavities are treated before they grow into bigger, more costly problems.
  • Composite rehabilitation for worn teeth - If your teeth are worn down from grinding or age, our practice rebuilds them with bonded composite material instead of full crowns. Your dentist won't need to grind away healthy tooth structure to make room for a crown.
  • Relief for dental anxiety - Gentler treatments make appointments less stressful for nervous patients.
  • Faster recovery - With less invasive work, your mouth heals more quickly.
  • Stronger teeth over time - Keeping more of your natural tooth structure helps it stay healthy for years.

Visit Murmann Dental Health soon to learn how minimally invasive dentistry in Naperville, IL can keep your teeth strong and healthy.

This is my first time with the Murmann dental health. The whole team is very caring and taking the time to attend their patient, my hygienist was very friendly and helpful and did the cleaning very nicely. And, the Dr was very specifically checked each and every thing on my paper work which I haven't experienced in my previous and prior dentists. I am very much pleased with my appointment, and the dentist I got. Thank you so much Dr. Murmann! And I should thank my periodontist to recommending Dr.Murmann.

Dr. Murmann is kind, professional, and helps put me more at ease — even with my dental anxiety. She's patient, understanding, and really great with nervous patients. And I have to say — her hygienist Diana is the best! Gentle, thorough, and always so friendly. I don't dread my appointments quite as much as I used to. Highly recommend!

I was referred by a family friend so this was my first visit. I had a broken tooth and another was cracked. I was in some pain. Michelle at the front desk scheduled an appointment for the next business day. Dr Murmann is extremely skilled and very personable. Kayla her assistant was also extremely attentive and competent. They managed my pain and fixed my teeth in the first visit. I have some follow up that will be required but Dr Murmann laid out all my options to consider. Really excellent people and so good at what they do. My mouth went from a pain level of 7-8 to no pain one day later.

I feel like they do their best to make going to the dentist as painless as possible. They are also really good at taking care of the insurance and sending in estimates so you know what you'll be paying. I can't recommend her highly enough!!

I have been a patient of Dr. Murmann for almost 15 years. The care and quality from her and her staff is unmatched. A few years ago I had to switch to a different dentist due to insurance issues, and havent been able to find anyone with the same quality. Most people dread going to the dentist. I would look forward to it. Over the weekend I broke my front tooth and was expecting it to be pulled. I called up her office (it had been several years) bawling my eyes out, willing to pay out of pocket, because I knew she would be able to help. Even if the damage was too severe, she would be able to guide me with the next steps. She got me in the next morning and was able to save my tooth! I cant thank her enough. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I love my dentist!! I was lucky enough to say that about my previous dentist as well and when he retired i hunted on Reddit for recommendations and found Murmann! 30 minutes after my cleaning, I recommended Dr. Murmann ( and Gina.. the most gentle hygenist I've ever experienced) to a woman in line at Homegoods next door to the office. Highly recommend this dentist who i also love because she STILL MASKS!! Bravo for understanding airborne viruses!!

Common Questions About Minimally Invasive Dentistry

What is minimally invasive dentistry?
Minimally invasive dentistry describes a treatment philosophy built around saving healthy tooth structure whenever possible. Rather than drilling away large sections of a tooth, the dentist targets only the diseased or broken areas, using gentle techniques and modern bonding materials to complete the repair.
How is minimally invasive dentistry different from traditional dentistry?

The biggest difference with minimally invasive dentistry is how much of your tooth stays untouched. Other methods of dentistry frequently call for heavy drilling or capping a tooth entirely. This more conservative approach leans on early intervention to fix problems with far less removal of dental structure.

Can minimally invasive dentistry help if I get nervous at the dentist?
Anxious patients tend to do very well with minimally invasive dentistry. Appointments usually involve quieter tools, minimal drilling, and less time in the chair. The experience feels calmer and more manageable for anyone who dreads dental visits.
Can minimally invasive dentistry restore teeth that are worn down?

Worn teeth can be rebuilt through composite rehabilitation, a cornerstone of minimally invasive dentistry. Layers of bonded resin restore each tooth's height, function, and appearance. Unlike full crowns, this method limits shaving down healthy enamel to make room for a restoration.

Does minimally invasive dentistry save money compared to conventional dentistry?

Choosing minimally invasive dentistry frequently leads to lower costs across a lifetime of care. Smaller repairs use fewer materials and shorter appointments, and teeth that keep their natural structure are less likely to need major, costly procedures down the road.
