It's not easy being Green
At Murmann Dental Health we believe we are to take care of each other, the planet, and ourselves.
Our office is in the Springbrook Prairie Pavilion, in Naperville, which has obtained the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification for Core and Shell from the United States Green Building Council
The roof of the building is white, to reduce energy when heating and cooling the building, as can be seen on Google Maps.
The main parking lot, in front of the building is made from pavers and gravel, to prevent water runoff.
The building has motion sensor activated lights
We recycle! Most days we have more recycling than trash! Behind our building in the area for the trash, are also recycling containers.
Paperwork that has personal information we shred, then recycle.
Paperwork that does not have personal information is reused as scratch paper first, then recycled.
Digital X-rays require no chemicals to develop them, as with analog film (developer and fixer).
We use Isolyser/SMS products to dispose of regulated wastes. Their products are manufactured using solar power and their disposal system has a smaller carbon footprint due to less transportation.
When dentists work on teeth that have amalgam in them, mercury (Hg) goes into the sewer system. An amalgam separator removes at least 95% of the amalgam from the water supply. The EPA final rule on amalgam separators being required at dental offices became effective as of 07/14/2017. The date for compliance is 07/14/2020. We have had ours since 2010, when the office was opened.
